Bottom Line

Don’t you love “the bottom line”?

When all the salesmanship and superfluous rhetoric has ceased  – Just give it to me straight, waist high across the plate.

Over the years, I’ve seen PhDs debate one another in the great high steeple forums from Oxford to Harvard with speech so eloquent no one could ever understand it, not even them. You’ve seen it, they line up on stage and are introduced with their credentials and titles and… oh yes, they’ve all written 10 or more books and volumes of papers on the exegetical hermeneutical exposition of theology. (Make no mistake, I’m grateful for all of their study and hard work. I just wish such great thinkers would see where all of it leads)

Could there ever be a bottom line in all of it?

Can a layman ever understand that which is purported?

Believe it or not, the entirety of the Holy Scriptures culminate with a bottom line.

Depending on what version you choose, there are an estimated 783,137 words in the bible. They all lead to a bottom line:

[1] God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3] Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1: 1-3)

Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God came to do something that has never been done. He has opened the door allowing humanity to enter divinity. The  mystery that was kept since the foundation of the world and never revealed until Christ revealed it through the Apostle Paul.

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: (Colossians 1:26)

He shuts the mouths of men!

By faith in Him, we become part of Him, eternal…bottom line.

We have passed from death to life.

We are as safe as He is because we are in Him. Joint heirs with Him.

We are complete in Him, nothing else is needed.

We have all Spiritual Blessings in Him.

Sin will never be imputed to us.

He’s faithful when we aren’t; He does the holding.

By His one sacrifice, it’s finished.

Ceremonial washings, ordinances, alters, sacrificial practices and shadows are all fulfilled in Christ.

We are free from condemnation and at peace with God.

We are free from the law of sin and death.

We are indwelt by Him and lead by Him.

It’s the end of religion and the beginning of relationship.

He swore by Himself that His promises are true.

783,137 words are fulfilled in one Word: The Word became flesh and dwelled among us and now, in us. Bottom line.

By faith in His finished work, WE BECOME PARTAKERS OF HIS DIVINE NATURE!

There is no gift bestowed upon man greater than the amazing gift that God has chosen to live in us. Right here, right now.

Practically Speaking

We are gifted a relationship with the intelligence, power and presence behind what the James Webb telescope is observing today.  (– NGC 7319 – harbors an active galactic nucleus, a supermassive black hole 24 million times the mass of the Sun. It is actively pulling in material and puts out light energy equivalent to 40 billion Suns).

[27] But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (1 Corinthians 1:27)

He stands at the door, call on Him today!

He will in no way cast you off!

He cares not of your credentials. You become His child, His heir, His masterpiece!
