Christ alone- No plan B
Could you imagine asking someone for directions and they say, “Take any road you want, and you’ll get there!”? Insanity.
That’s exactly what religion is doing today.
Rather than wandering aimlessly, believers can experience the freedom and purpose that come from knowing they are fully accepted and loved by God.
The message couldn’t be clearer: salvation comes through Christ alone – not through our concoctions, substances, rituals, or religious efforts. When we start adding requirements or alternative paths, we’re missing the fundamental truth that Jesus declared: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Think about it – God didn’t set up multiple paths to salvation like some cosmic multiple choice test. He provided one way – His Son. All our attempts to reach God through other means, whether it’s ayahuasca, meditation, good works, or religious rituals, are just modern versions of the Tower of Babel – humanity trying to climb its way to heaven.
The beauty of salvation through Christ alone is its simplicity and accessibility. It’s not about your behavior, your past, or your labels. Whether you’re L, G, B, T, Q, or straight as an arrow – it doesn’t matter. The only qualification is being human and accepting Christ’s finished work. That’s what makes it so powerful – it has to work for everyone or it’s just another religion.
Remember this key truth: Christ died for our sins, not our behavior. Religion says you need to clean yourself up first, but Jesus says “while we were yet sinners” (Romans 5:8). He didn’t wait for us to get our act together. He didn’t set up a behavior clinic. He established a rescue mission.
You see, salvation isn’t about getting from bad to good – it’s about moving from death to life. We were all dead in Adam, and we can all be made alive in Christ. It’s not about what flavor of sin you struggle with or what label society has given you. The ground is level at the foot of the cross.
Some argue this is too exclusive. But think about it – is a bridge exclusive because it’s the only way across a canyon? The exclusivity of Christ isn’t about keeping people out – it’s about providing the only way that actually works. God so loved the world that He gave His only Son – not multiple options, not a variety of paths, but the one perfect solution that could bridge the gap between humanity and Himself.
The moment you try to add anything to Christ’s finished work – whether it’s religious rituals, moral behavior, or spiritual experiences – you’ve missed the point entirely. He didn’t say “I am one of the ways” or “I’ll get you partway there.” He accomplished everything needed for our salvation, and our only response is to believe and receive.
This isn’t about being narrow-minded – it’s about understanding that God’s solution is both exclusive and inclusive at the same time. Exclusive in its means (Christ alone), but inclusive in its reach (whosoever believes). That’s why the gospel is such good news – it’s not about what we can do for God, but about what He has already done for us in Christ.
Remember, salvation in Christ is the only thing I know of that works for everyone. Anything else is just religion trying to build another tower to heaven. Christ alone – it’s enough, because He is enough.
“What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus replied, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” (John 6:28-29)
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
What part of this have we missed?
