Enough is Enough!

Man, where does it end?  God will answer that question: Christ.

3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” (Ephesians 1:3)

Someone recently asked me about ayahuasca, a plant based brew used in spiritual healing. Many, to include Christians, are engaging in these rituals and substances to attain a higher level of consciousness to reach and experience God.

As physical beings, we often search for the next “high”—whether through substances like drugs, alcohol, nicotine, food, sex, ayahuasca, or practices like reiki, incense, crystals, and mushrooms—seeking to elevate ourselves into a spiritual realm to find or understand God.

Certainly, God can and will use circumstances to reveal your need for Him, but you won’t find Him through your own inventions or efforts.

As physical beings, we naturally enjoy feeling good and often seek more of it. This pursuit can become a form of religion, much like the additional practices that some denominations attach to the finished work of Christ, such as sacraments, rituals, dietary restrictions, and the observance of special days.

It’s the “Tower of Babel”, man attempting to reach God – Religion! God has chosen Christ to  reach humanity.

If you feel the need to go “somewhere” or do “something” other than turning to Christ to find God (including going to a specific building), then you have missed Him.

24 The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, (Acts 17)

God is wherever you are when you call on Him (sinners pulpit). And even more, He comes to live  in you! You are the temple God chooses to live in and through.  19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you,  (1 Corinthians 6:19)

Watch this: In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. (Hebrews 1)

It’s finished! 30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. (John 19)

Everything God created is inherently good and serves a purpose. Some things bring joy, others for pain or healing, some provide nourishment, and others offer teaching, correction, or reproof. However, when misused, even good things can lead to harm. For instance, water is vital for life, but if used improperly, it can be dangerous.

The question is: are we using these gifts for the right purpose?

We have everything we need in Christ!  We don’t need to elicit the help of any created thing, whether chemical or spirit.

In other words, if you have heard the Gospel and called on Christ for salvation, stop seeking and start resting. With salvation comes everything God has for you. You won’t be happy with any of the temporary “highs” you seek.

There’s no “high” like a “Jesus High”.

He promises it but He’s jealous and won’t share it with your concoctions.

God desires our wholehearted devotion and wants us to find our satisfaction in Him alone. He knows that true fulfillment comes from Him, not from anything else we might seek to fill that void. This is why He calls us to trust in Him and rely on His Spirit, rather than turning to other sources for what only He can provide.

Stop fighting your sin! Jesus fought it and won!!!

It’s your behavior that needs work now.

Allow the Spirit of God, who lives in you now, to do His work. He is the one who empowers us to live in alignment with our true identity.

What will it take for us to learn – we – can’t – do – it!

All of the “highs” we experience from chemicals, substances and rituals are a mere shadow of the “high” we could experience permanently with Christ.

We are promised abundant life that involves resting in the completeness we have in Christ. We have been made complete in Him, lacking nothing for life and godliness (Colossians 2:10; 2 Peter 1:3).

This means we are fully equipped to bear the fruit of the Spirit, living out the new identity we have in Christ (Galatians 5:22-23). In essence, abundant life is about living in the freedom and joy of our union with Christ, knowing that we are fully loved, accepted, and empowered by Christ and His finished work.

He is enough for salvation, enough for everyday living, enough for joy, peace and any other thing we’re trying to feel.

Stop making it about sin, sin was dealt with at the cross!!!

It’s now about traversing this planet with the God of the universe living in you.

He knows your struggles and is with you in them. Yes, when you choose poorly, He doesn’t wait in the car.

He’s as close as your breath and promises never to leave you.

He’s traded all the mess you do for His righteousness.

God’s presence in me may be expressed differently than in a drunkard or a little girl who has had an abortion, but He is present and working in each of us, guiding us toward His love and truth if we allow Him.

Christ died for us while we were yet sinners!  (Romans 5:8).

We must understand that when we accept His finished work, there is no wrath nor condemnation. He loves us and will work to bring you to His likeness (1 John 3:2)

When you behave poorly, He doesn’t leave you or beat you over the head, He’s there to guide and teach you, renewing your mind as a loving Father.

You have been reconciled to the almighty God in Christ.

Isn’t that enough?

You see, God so loved us that He sent His Son to save us. We were all predestined for it (not Calvinism), we just need to receive it. (Ephesians 1)

Christ is God’s gift to us and we are the Son’s gift to the Father. (John 17)

God – Enough.

Christ – God in Flesh – Enough.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Call on Him today, wherever you are (sinners pulpit), He’ll save you.

He promised.
