The little boy hesitated at the door because he was afraid of the dark room.
Yesterday, when the light was on, he had seen a giant snowman reserved for Christmas and was terrified. He would no longer enter the room where he once loved to explore and play. There was an old trunk with objects from the past and ornate decorations that reminded him of the best time of year. There were antique trucks, a telescope, a boomerang, a small boat turned on its end with a carved statue of “ the old man in the sea”, a light house, books, a toy football filled with pennies, so many wondrous sights, sounds, smells and intriguing things to see and do. Just being there brought him complete joy, until his eyes fell upon the oversized stuffed snowman with eyes that never left his. Paralyzed! He couldn’t move, or play, the joy was gone, it was all he could focus on. He thought of it even when he wasn’t there, he couldn’t get it out of his head. He lay awake at night afraid to go to sleep. He had lost the joy of just being there; the joy was replaced with fear.
The grandfather was fully aware of the problem and removed the snowman. It took several visits to the room to convince the boy of the good news, but once he was convinced it wasn’t hiding under the bed or in a drawer, but GONE, he resumed his joyous adventures in the room. He still has some trepidation every time he enters the room because of the ever present memory but quickly reminds himself of the truth: IT IS GONE!
Since the fall, sin has separated man from God.
Disobedience caused man to lose relationship with God.
Through one man’s sin, Adam, all sinned, we can’t help it, we are born into it.
The human being was made in the image of God, filled with the very life of God, ( Genesis 2:7) he walked and talked with God, communed with God, we were God’s masterpiece, His greatest creation. We blew it, we always have and always will. Humans sin, we always have and always will.
GOOD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
The entire bible is the story of God reconciling mankind to Himself.
Here is the entire message of the Bible from Genesis 1 – Revelation 22:
God made you, God loves you, man disobeyed and died spiritually, God desires for you to be redeemed (bought back), reconciled (made right) with Him. God became human in the person of Jesus Christ, (Isaiah 7:14, John 1:12), perfect, sinless, sacrifice to TAKE AWAY THE SINS OF THE WORLD!!!
DO YOU SEE THIS? Takes away the sins of the world.
Christ died for your sins. He took them out of the way. He took them upon Himself. He who knew no sin became sin. He took the sinner’s place.
The ONLY, ONLY, ONLY thing that separated you from God has been taken out of the way. Not covered, hidden or winked at, but GONE.
YOU BY FAITH ARE FORGIVEN, ONCE FOR ALL, FREE FROM THE PENALTY, GUILT AND SHAME OF SIN, REDEEMED, RECONCILED, AT PEACE WITH GOD. YOU ARE FREE TO LIVE ON THIS PLANET THE LIFE GOD WANTS FOR YOU. GOD NOW LIVES THROUGH YOU. CHRIST TRADED HIS RIGHTEOUS LIFE FOR YOUR SIN.
AND……… TOOK IT OUT OF THE WAY. YOUR SIN WILL NO LONGER SEPARATE YOU FROM GOD.
WHY IS THIS SO DIFFICULT?
Because of self. We feel we must have some means of doing or keeping.
It’s really a lack of trusting the magnitude of God’s love, mercy and grace. (The greatest sin)
God says through faith in who Jesus Christ is and what he did, you have eternal life with Him. You have been made alive, you are in Him and He is in you, nothing can take you out. YOU AREN’T DOING THE HOLDING!!!!!!!!!
I have noticed that most folks talk and worry more about their sin and their actions than they do the glorious finished work of Jesus Christ at the cross.
By faith in Jesus Christ, you will never go to hell.
Sin is alive and well, but you are dead to it. In scripture we see that a person was freed from a covenant when they died. This is what it means to be dead to sin. Christ died for it so you wouldn’t have to. If by faith we are in Christ, then we are dead to it and alive with Christ at His resurrection. That is the Gospel. Right there, all the Gospel you will ever need (1 Corinthians 15). That has got to make you shout hallelujah!!!!!!!
Christ paid the penalty for sin. All of your sin, all of your unrighteousness. Past present and future. He remembers it no more. He forgives you totally, forever. That’s how big it is! Why do we diminish the glorious magnitude of what God has done for us by talking about or worrying about what God has taken away and destroyed?
How would your life change if you truly believed this and rested in it?
Would you go and sin?
If you did, and you will, it has no more consequence between you and God.
God doesn’t want us to sin because He loves us and knows the physical consequences it will have here on earth, but your sin will no longer separate you from God. Don’t let religious people tell you that your sin hurts your relationship with God or that your salvation is positional or what you do causes God to turn His back on you. How can you be totally forgiven and in Christ and have him turn His back on you? 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us OF OUR SINS AND CLENSE US FROM ALLLLLLL…..OUR UNRIGHTEOUSNESS. THAT WAS DONE WHEN YOU CONFESSED YOU WERE A SINNER AND RECEIVED SALVATION. God doesn’t keep short accounts based on what sin you remember. That would put the onus on you and not on what Christ did at the Cross. He died once…… and it was sufficient.
(1 John 1:9 is taken out of context more than any verse I know and it keeps people in bondage and fear. John was talking to those who said they had no sin. We must rightly divide scripture in its proper context before we make a doctrine of it)
We dead sinners didn’t need an example, we needed a Savior!!!!!!
When Christ died on the cross, the temple veil was torn that separated us from God telling us we can now come into Him boldly. We have access to the almighty living God through Jesus Christ.
Like the little boy, we are free to go into the room and enjoy this joyous abundant life because Christ has removed the one obstacle that separated us from eternal life. Sin and Death. Christ took the sin out of the way and overcame death. What religion can claim that?
Friends, when you rest in that and stop focusing on your sin and focus on what He has DONE, you will find a peace that will surpass your understanding. He promised. When you sin, say thank you Jesus. Don’t dwell on it, dwell on His forgiveness. There is no sin in the world that He didn’t die for.
Sin is Gone.
THE SINNER’S PULPIt
Come in a sinner, leave a Saint.
